Renovation FAQ

Renovations,
answered.

Common questions from homeowners planning larger projects.
What types of renovations does Optimized Home handle?
We specialize in kitchen gut renovations, basement finishing, built-in millwork, home offices, walk-in pantries, laundry rooms, and complete interior refreshes. We are not a bathroom specialist and do not take on additions or structural work — we focus on the rooms where cabinetry and millwork are central.
How is a renovation different from a custom closet or kitchen project?
Renovations involve coordination of additional trades — flooring, electrical, plumbing, drywall, paint — alongside our cabinetry. We manage the entire project as a single point of accountability, so you have one phone number for everything, not five.
Do you handle permits?
For renovations requiring permits (usually kitchen layout changes or basement egress), yes. We work with licensed trades and handle all permit submissions with the City of Vaughan or relevant municipality.
How long does a basement renovation take?
Typical basement renovation timeline in the GTA is 10 to 14 weeks from design approval to completion, depending on scope. This includes framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, flooring, trim, and our custom millwork.
What's the Limited Lifetime Warranty on renovation work?
Our lifetime warranty covers all Optimized Home-built cabinetry and millwork permanently. Trade work (electrical, plumbing, flooring) carries warranties from the licensed trades who performed it, typically 1–5 years depending on the work.
